ST JOHN & PLAHUTA
Stewart St John and Michael Plahuta are the American/Australian composing and songwriting/producing team “St John & Plahuta”, composers for film, television, video games, musicals and podcasts. Most recently they’ve composed 14 pop songs for St John’s live-action musical feature film in development with Oscar®-nominated producer Marc Platt (Wicked, Legally Blonde) and his company Marc Platt Productions.
St John, also an established screenwriter and director, started his musical career winning a National Philharmonic Composing Competition while in high school, and went on to write songs for TV series including Fox’s Tom & Jerry Kids. He was the composer/producer of the musical audio series and feature project Sara released by Hay House and based on the NY Times best-selling books from authors Jerry & Esther Hicks, and has released several solo albums including Global Symphony, licensed by NASA for airplay on the International Space Station. Plahuta began his solo career in high school with an original song licensed by Central Station, a division of Universal Music, and has produced remixes for many artists including Metric, Depeche Mode and OK Go.
St John and Plahuta first teamed up to write and produce the marriage equality anthem ”Love Wins” under the House of Pryme label, which received significant airplay in Australia. The duo then composed and produced 20 original songs based on St John’s Tara Tremendous series performed by Micky Dolenz, Annie Golden (Hair: The Musical), Mary Stout (Beauty & The Beast), MiMi Ryder (Matilda: The Musical) and many other stars of Broadway in NYC. St John directed the live show and produced the online documentary series chronicling the behind-the-scenes making of the musical and cast album recording, featuring interviews and musical numbers.
The duo have several original musicals for stage, animation and live-action currently in development.
Stewart and Michael are also two of the co-founders of Wonkybot Entertainment, an award-winning production company and sound house creating original IP for kids and family.
